Future Generations

In a similar way that children were viewed as a way to ensure that the family line continued, they were also viewed as a way to continue faith. Furthermore, it was seen that doing Godly things would result in good things for future generations. The opposite was also true - doing wrong or bad things would affect the fortunes of future generations negatively. Children were the means to continue things on into the future. There was a clear understanding that people’s individual choices and actions affect others and that this included future generations.
