Children of Worth

The societies in the Old Testament were all adult male dominated. It is worth noting that children were not highly regarded by most societies of the time. Children were considered to be adults in the making. They were often not considered to be of worth in of themselves. They were useful only to the point that they would be of worth later on in life. It as also worth noting that in Biblical times there were was only regard to childhood and adulthood. There was no understanding of a transition between the two. It is remarkable, then, that children were of worth at all. More than that, they were included - they were a part of the covenant with God.
