Section Five
Children Joined in
There are several Old Testament examples where children joined in different
activities:
Reading of the Law
Children were included in an assembly where the people were to be
reminded of the laws God had given the nation. In fact, having the children
there was seen as a key purpose of getting together.
Blessings and Curses
Joshua reads the words of the law to the Israelites, including children. It is
specifically mentioned that nothing was left out of the reading - the children
were to hear the blessings and curses contained within the law.
Prayer and Confession
Children were included in a crowd of Israelites who gather with Ezra in a
time of prayer and confession.
Rejoicing
Children joined in a time of rejoicing
Gathering
Children and babies gather along with the people
Praise
In a Psalm of praise, all sorts of things, creatures and people are
commanded to praise God including young men, old men, women and
children.
