Blessings in the Psalms

Here are three passages in the Psalms where the author expresses that having children is considered to be a blessing from God. One: Psalm 127 is a short Psalm. It starts with the idea that God can be in the everyday things of life (like giving us sleep). It makes the point that attempting to do things without God is fruitless. The end of the Psalm talks about the blessing of children. This implies that having children is also something in which God can work. Two: Psalm 37 compares and contrasts life for those who trust in God and for those who don’t. One of the things that is mentioned about those who trust God is that ‘their children will be a blessing’. Three: Psalm 128 is another short Psalm. It talks about the blessings for those who ‘fear the Lord’. Included in these blessings is having children and being alive to be able to see ‘your children’s children’.
