A Look Forward

Isaiah contains a passage that has a look forward to a time when there will be ‘new heavens and a new earth’. Part of the encouragement to look forward to this time is to expect that: Never again will infants die when they are young People will live into old age Children will not be born that are destined to have misfortune People will be blessed by God, as will their descendents A message of hope for the future contains encouragements about children. It contrasts sharply with a passage in Lamentations that talks of children suffering in the present. It talks of how infants go thirsty and hungry and have to beg for food.

Where to Find It

The passage in Isaiah can be found at Isaiah Chapter 65 verses 17 to 25. The one in Lamentations can be found in Lamentations Chapter 4 verses 2, 4 and 10.
