The concept of childhood
in the Bible
There are two broad ways that children and
chilhood is used in the Bible.
Firstly, there is the biological sense - an actual child
(son or daughter). This is used across the whole
spread of age (person A is a child of person B -
person A could be a baby or a toddler or an older
child or an adult).
Secondly, it is used as a metaphor or picture to
illustrate something. For example, some people are
called ‘children of God’.
